chapter 12: blueflower.org v9.0
(october 2004 to december 2004)

We've now moved beyond the classic world of blueflower.org and more into the contemporary realm. Version 9.0 went up October 27, 2004 when I made my return to the world of weblogging.

In some ways, this version bore a lot of resemblance to version 5.0, but, you know, blue. The navigation menu moved back to the top. Directly below that was a random color photo of images from around Manhattan, where I was now living. I had finally truly eliminated the name of the website from the redesign and had replaced it in the lower right-hand corner with the flower logo and ".org".

There was a lot of blue once again, but mostly dull, almost grayish-blues, which weren't exactly the most cheerful. Using a color wheel to pick the colors for me, I went with a straight monochromatic blue color scheme.

In bringing back the weblog, I started over and no longer included the old archives. I also did away with comments because I was sick of deleting comment spam.

With this design, I switched from HTML to XHTML and I also went with a table-less layout for the first time. Instead, the entire site is now laid out entirely using CSS. It cleans up the coding and makes the page more customizable on the fly.

Although it was simple, it was just too blue, so once again, it had to go.
