Zzzzzzzzzzzz ::
I'm not even at work yet, but I'm already falling asleep here. Oh boy, it's going to be a long day.
What Do You Expect? I'm in Appleton for Pete's Sake! ::
I guess tonight ended up being a short night. I initially met Matt and Carrie down at Jekyll's, but it was much too crowded in there, so we went down the street to Basil's instead. We only stuck around until 1, at which time we all headed home. Coming off of illness and a full week of work, they were pretty exhausted and ready to head to bed. I can't deny that I'd love to catch some z's myself, but having to be at work at 4:30, I'd most likely sleep right through my alarm if I attempted to get some rest now. In the mean time I have to kill another 2 hours before work and then attempt to stay awake through work. Thankfully, I only work until 10, so then I can come home and crash. With the messy combination of rain, freezing rain, and snow that we've had tonight, I'm definitely not looking forward to going to work. It's going to be a mess out there. At least I don't know how to de-ice, so that fun job gets to be left to my coworkers.

Nothing Special, But Distinctly Better ::
There - I did it. In only a matter of a few hours I threw together a new website. It's quite obviously not much different than the last one (think of it as version 6.2), but I still like it a lot better. Well, at least for now I do. It'll at least keep me pacified for a few weeks while I'm away and don't have time to think about a replacement.
Last Minute Kind of Stuff ::
In addition to packing and studying up, I'm also trying to throw together a quick site redesign. It's not really much. In fact, it's just a slight tweaking of this current design, but I think it looks at least nominally better. It's at least something I could live with until I return from Memphis and hopefully get some free time to do an actual redesign. Maybe I'll try to finish it yet tonight before going out on the town. I have lots of time to kill.

Do I Spend the Money? ::
It looks like it might not be such a bad time for them to ship me down to Memphis, as I see the Memphis International Film Festival is running March 27-30. While supremely inferior to my beloved Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, it doesn't change the fact that they're showing some interesting films. They're also doing the local premier of Levity, and Morgan Freeman will be present (the good one, not that jackass director Morgan J. Freeman) as they are honoring him and showing a retrospective of some of his films. Now the real question is, do I pony up the $75 for a festival pass, or will I not have enough free time to make it worth it?
Sending Me South ::
Word finally came in from above that I'm being sent to Memphis for counter training later this month. It's over a month later than I was previously anticipating, but much better than May like I was also told could happen. So that's the story - I'm going to be in Memphis from March 24 to April 4. It sort of throws a monkeywrench in my plans to get off to volunteer at the film festival, but it looks like I'm still going to get Harry to let me have a couple days off in April to drive to Minneapolis nevertheless.

Cutting Back ::
I need to cut back on my drinking. This is not because I just had some moral epiphany or for any sort of health reasons. It has everything to do with the fact that the shit is expensive. I've blown so much money in the bars in recent months that I could have pretty much had my credit card debt paid off had I not been drinking so heavily. The key is that I'm going to start limiting the number of nights that I'll go out in a week. If I only go out twice a week, and if both of those times I drink cheap beer in a cheap bar, then I'll have plenty of money left over. That's the plan.
