Okay, I don't feel like getting too deeply into detail about my week, but I'll give it in the short form. Tuesday, I went to Milwaukee with Molly, cursing every moron from Indiana and Ohio that we passed along the way. We went to used cd store, ate at Comet, and bowled at the UWM union before coming back to her place and watching Almost Famous. Then we slept.
Wednesday we ate toast and bacon that Conway made and I attempted to clean myself with decorative soap. Then we went to court with Megan and I read "Highlights" jokes. We got drive thru from BK, ate it at their place, and I read the Journal Sentinel while they loaded up their camping gear. It started to rain pretty good, so we hit the road back to Minnesota. In Tomah I sought my mesh hat, but it had apparently been purchased already. Back in Minneapolis, I knew I was outgunned against Molly, Megan, and Lindsey in Scrabble, but that proved to be an understatement when Lindsey led off the game with an 80-point, 7-letter word. My destruction continued with losing 3 of 4 games of pool - two of one-on-one with Jonathan and two of two-on-two with Jonathan and Lindsey against Peter and I. I went home and drank myself to sleep.
Thursday, Jonathan and I went to the Twins game and watched them get killed by the Blue Jays 6-2. It was a game they were still in until TK brought on the bullpen. Then we stopped at Brit's for beer and food. I then went home and watched a lot of tv. Pissed off at the world, I cussed out a telemarketer who called me at 8:45. I went for a walk later, then came home and watched The Jerk. I finally fell asleep watching Conan. Today I sat around all day watching tv. The most productive thing I did all day was to take a shower. I'm meeting Jonathan in a little while, and then we're going to Rhea's later. That's about as interesting as it gets. Maybe tonight I won't be pissed at everyone and everything.
Back on Friday, my dad and I drove back here to Minneapolis and unloading my things, including the loveseat. We picked up my sickly car from the repair shop and I had to drop $160 for it. That night, my dad, Lindsey, and I went to the Uptown and saw Ghost World. Although we got in for free, I would gladly have paid, because I liked the movie that much. Along with Moulin Rouge, easily the two best movies I've seen so far this year. We got out and found it raining, so we got soaked walking back to the car, but since none of us are witches, we all survived.
On Saturday, Dad and I rain around looking for a coffee table and found a nice little one for $10 at Steeple People. While driving around, the "check engine" light came on, so Dad freaked and we had to get the car checked. We ate at Baker's Square, had the van checked out, he dropped me at my apartment, and then he drove back to Appleton. I spent the afternoon lying around because I was rather tired. I then called Lindsey, but she wasn't up for doing anything just yet. I called Jonathan, and the two of us went to play air hockey at Gringo's, but they were closed. We walked down to Leaning Tower of Pizza and ate before bowling a few games at a very dirty Mady's. We then picked up Lindsey and met Molly and Justin at Har Mar to see Rat Race. While I expected the movie to be so bad that it's good, it actually went beyond that, being so bad that it went beyond good and back to bad. Purely disappointing. Afterward, Lindsey was hungry, so she, Jonathan, and I went to Perkins. None of us ended up eating much though, and then we went home.
Sunday I arose early, showered, and visited Lindsey at work, finally leaving at 2:45. I then came home, ate, and Molly came over. We listened to the radio and talked for a bit, but I was feeling lazy and anti-social, so I had no ambition to get up and face the world. Eventually, a little after 7 Molly and I went for a walk through Loring Park and the sculpture garden, returning about 8:30. We then sat down to watch American Graffiti, but I fell asleep several times. The movie got over shortly before 11, so that's when Molly left. I spent a few hours slipping in and out of consciousness before finally climbing into bed after 3 and falling asleep to Suspicion.
Once again this morning I arose early and sat around listening to music. After talking to Lindsey for a bit, I decided to get up and go to campus. I had intended to talk to my advisor, but she was unavailable (as always). The girl at the desk was nice and tried to be as helpful as possible, but I noticed that the fake transcript that she printed up had several mistakes, which pissed me off even more, but hopefully I can get that cleared up when I do finally meet my advisor for the first time. I also went to the bookstore and bought the book for my journalism class and the cassettes for my Bergman class. Returning home, I ended up spending the rest of the day with my ass glued to the loveseat. I was supposed to go over to Molly's tonight, but I sat around waiting for Lindsey to get home, and by the time she did, it was 9:45, so she was tired, and I didn't feel like heading over there myself. I'll see Molly the next two days anyway. Tomorrow morning we head for Milwaukee - the anti-Republican town which our very Republican President found it necessary to visit yesterday. I hate that man.
Last Saturday, I got up relatively early to go shopping at the MoA with Jonathan and Lindsey. It was a rather uneventful shopping trip, which saw Lindsey buy a pair of jeans at Old Navy, Jonathan sneer at several pairs of ugly shoes, and I bask in the wonderful glow of capitalism in operation. They dropped me off at work for another boring Saturday shift which involved telling literally tens of people that the stupid film they came to see didn't arrive on time. After work, Molly, Jonathan, and I went to St. Paul and ate pizza at some expensive pizzeria. Then we went to the Polish Palace for a beer. After driving past the nude art party to see if there were any nekkid people outside (which there weren't), we got channeled onto the interstate by the Minneapolis' finest. Already headed down 94 west, Molly suggested we drive to St. Cloud. Jonathan kidnapped and I indifferent, we went on our way. We got pulled over twice - once on the way to St. Cloud and once in St. Cloud - for not having a license plate on the car. Molly actually has one, but it's temporary, and the cops couldn't see it without having pulled us over. It was late once again before we got home.
I think I got up on Sunday about the time that Lindsey called me out of boredom (a bit of my own medicine?). I went to work in the afternoon, and then Molly came by, so we sat around talking for a few hours. Nobody came for the late show, so I close down early. As we were finishing up and I was going to call Lindsey, she showed up with Nik and Sarah. The fivesome went to the Taco Bell at the Quarry for Taco Bell Picnic #3. After loitering for quite some time, Molly went home, and I took the 3 roommates home to discuss plans for Chicago. I went home late, and then sat up even later watching tv.
I wasted away part of the day Monday and then went to work. I then picked up Lindsey, and she and I went shopping at Target and Barnes and Noble. Since we were already in Roseville, we stopped on over and visited Molly at work. Unfortunately, she had actual work to do, but on the positive side, we did get to pop Ace of Base and Bachman-Turner Overdrive into the cd player. After a while, Lindsey and I left to go grocery shopping, picking up money and Nik in the process. We wandered around Rainbow picking up food and whatever. Then we took the food back to their place and spent hours in the kitchen. It was hot in there. Others came over, such as Colin and Dave. After discussing recent random roadtrips with Colin, he suggested we go to Mystic Lake for free soda. So, about 2 am, Colin, Erin, and I were on our way to Brooklyn Park to pick up Eric. The four of us then drove down to Mystic Lake for some free soda (and air conditioning). I blew a nickel as well. By the time left, I brought Colin and Eric back to Brooklyn Park, I dropped Erin at home, and I got home, it was 4:45. I went to bed.
Tuesday I went to work. After getting out of work, Molly stopped in by me and we talked for a while again. Conscious that I needed to get up early the next morning, I decided not to hang out. I got the car road ready by checking under the hood, kicking the tires, and running her through a self-service car wash. I then had one of my worst night's sleeps ever, as it was so damn hot and humid. Not a good night to proceed a long drive.
It was around 7 the last time I woke up Wednesday morning. I thought I was hot, but I guess Korey Stringer had it worse. Fuck whatever Molly says, this is weather-wise the worst summer ever. Nik and Lindsey called with my wake-up call at 8:15. It was 9:30 by the time I got over there. I loaded up the three roommates, and away we went. The worst part of the drive was the pouring rain in Western Wisconsin. I could give you all kinds of details about the drive, but I'm lazy and don't care. We got rush-hour traffic in Chicago, so that sucked. By the time we got twisted all around, found the parking garage, and got to the park, it was 6:30 and we had more-or-less missed the openers. Radiohead came on about 7:50, and including the three encores, they played about 2 hours. Of course they kicked ass, so I don't know why you'd ask me if they did. We flopped around in the grass out of exhaustion and then worked our way back to the car. Heading back out of town, we got to a truckstop between Chicago and Rockford and decided to set up camp. We went in to eat, but I was so tired that my heart attack inducing french fries covered with bacon and three kinds of cheese wasn't really all that appetizing. Then we went back out to my car to attempt to sleep. In my opinion, my seat behind the steering wheel was the most uncomfortable, but I think the others might argue that there's was worse.
Woke up Thursday morning and were too tired to go back to Chicago. Good thing we didn't bother, because they were flooded out anyway. I made the mistake of eating breakfast in the truckstop (even though I wasn't hungry), and I paid the consequences later as we were rounding Madison. They all zonked out on me at one point or another, but I guess it just gave me more time to sing without embarrassing myself too much. We got back to Minneapolis around 3, so I went to the Greyhound station after dropping them off and bought my bus ticket for next Thursday. I then went home, did a short entry in my journal, and proceeded to fall asleep. Someone called at 8 and I just hung up on them without talking. Didn't meant to, but I wasn't really awake when I did it. Eventually I crawled into bed.
Friday I didn't do much before going to work. Then I stopped over by Lindsey at work until she got out at 5:30. We went back to her place and she made mac and cheese. Thanks, Lindsey. We talked for a while and watched tv before going to Jon Grebner's for his birthday party. There were a lot of underage girls (and a few gay men) drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade and discussing political campaigns. We didn't stay long. Going back to Lindsey's, Sir Arthur and Molly came over and we all met Morgan at Mady's (pronounced to rhyme with ladies, not fatties). Speaking of that, no fat chicks. Anyway, I actually bowled well for once and rolled games of 177, 179, and 166. Then Lindsey was craving ice cream at night (as per usual), so we went to the Uptown Embers for shakes and food. My Reese's Pieces shake wasn't blended well and most of the pieces were whole (aka don't fit through the damn straw). The table had permanent sticky grooves from many shifts non-maintenance. Afterward, I brought Lindsey home, and I went home to bed. It was after 2:45.
Saturday I was bored again. Had to go to work at 2 because between Al and Kyle, they came up with the moronic idea of adding a 3:15 show. You know, they'd be fucked if I wasn't flexible and just told them to fuck off sometime when they just add stupid shows like that on me. Maybe one day I will tell them to fuck off. Anyway, I worked, and it was extremely fucking boring. Attendance was very mediocre. Lindsey came by, so I finished my shift, and we got food at Denny's. Our waiter was the manager. He was a flamer as well. He found it necessary to insult Lindsey on her choice of grits over hashbrowns, but he should talk - he was the one wearing the Star Trek Voyager polo. Dumbfuck. I gave Lindsey a ride home, and got home myself about 11:45. Don't know what to do now, but maybe I'll watch a movie. It's still fucking hot and humid, so I just want to kill someone. I'm tired as well. See, I'm busy with boredom.
