Not really much new since I wrote earlier this evening. I did get a request to update though, and I'm hoping it'll actually let me and not give me any of this crap about having too many users again. Maybe I just need to blow something up before they decide to actually let me publish my posts....

Another Friday night at Bijou. I'm sitting in the office waiting for the time to come to head down to the WBA. I'm feeling so lazy today. I got up this morning and emailed my paper topic to my professor and it's a good thing I did it when I did because our power was shut off for some reason from noon until 1 today. I don't think it was planned, but I don't know for sure. Well, I think I need to run soon. Later!

It's been quite some time since the last time that I updated this. I guess too much has been going on for me to catch you up on. Then again, with so much going on, I guess that might explain why I haven't updated, right? That still doesn't change the fact that I have to email my professor with my topic, thesis, and outline of my paper in the morning. I don't have a clue as to what to write about!

I went to see the latest film by my idol Cameron Crowe today at St. Anthony Main, and I the only thing I can say about it a line of alliteration: Classic Cameron Crowe with a Couple of Capitol C's! Yeah, it was great. I don't expect it to win any awards, but it was really entertaining and Cameron had another of his great screenplays. Tonight we have Muppet movies, and I called Kate at Radio K and she announced them on the air. I met another crazy guy today at the movies. He first told me about seeing the Sex Pistols and Patti Smith in the 70's in San Francisco and later he told me about his experimentation with drugs (exclaiming, "Bring back drugs!" as we left the theatre) and about meeting Judy Garland. Yeah, I always seem to meet the interesting ones. Okay, it's Friday night, and even though I have tons of homework to do this weekend, it's still time to par-tay!!!!

I'm sitting in the Bijou office and decided to update. I woke up Monday morning to a phone call at 8:40, but noone was on the other end. I popped on Radio K and listened all morning. I even called in to request a song, and Nichole got as close to my request as possible by playing Sean Na Na. I got going a little late, and then it took me an hour to get to St. Paul, so I showed up a half hour late for the SUPA meeting yesterday. Of course, I felt like a dumbass walking into my first meeting late. I went to my astronomy lab and that sucked and afterward I played soccer for a half hour with the MISA people on the mall. I caught the bus home and did some reading, but I was rather tired and I went to bed early. I got up this morning and rushed to Cheapo to get the new Björk cd. I picked up a coffee at the Cup and went to class. After German, I went to the job center, but they didn't have my job posted, so I went down to the UFS office and talked to them. I had to head to my EngL class and we watched Chaplin's The Gold Rush. Afterward, I came up to the office and I've been here ever since. We're sitting here listening to the Björk cd, but Brian just got here, so I think we're going to start the weekly meeting soon. Later!

I'm sorry - it was Triumph that woke me up, not Journey. I tell you, those power ballad bands are so different... riiiiight.

I was up late again last night, but got awoken this morning by the ass hole upstairs blasting Journey (or some shit like that). I got up and watched some tv. I watched the Packer game and then took a nap. I was awoken again 2 hours later, but this time by a phone call from Erik. We talked for a bit, and then I made myself another pizza and watched more tv. There was nothing else on tv worth watching after "That 70's Show", so I turned it off, and I've been online chatting with Carrie ever since. I still have plenty of homework to do, but I'm lazy and now I'm getting tired. Oh well....

I went to Bijou and hung out with Annemarie and Molly. The three of us headed Uptown afterwards and ate at Perkins before seeing Brazil at midnight at the Uptown. Molly dropped me back off here and now I'm up for a little while. Although I'm sort of tired, I got a short nap in at the theatre (I always fall asleep during movies at night!). This is really a fast moving weekend. I guess I'll have to do a bit of homework in the morning so I don't have to do everything on Monday. I'll have to have it all done early on Monday also, because I have to be at a meeting for SUPA at 3:30. Meetings, meetings... aren't they fun?

It's been a nice, lazy day. I'm sitting around now listening to Radio K and thinking about going to Bijou tonight. I should do some reading too, but I'm feeling too lazy for that. I was having enough problems with AOL again the way it was, and then my brother decided to sign on as I was trying to rectify the problem. The worst thing is, he's about the only person I know of who goes online for more pointless reasons than I do. Oh, I'm sure he doesn't consider chatting with people who live on the other side of town and downloading MP3s to be a waste of time, but then again, we all know how much of a moron he is, so might as well let him get his jollies somehow.

Friday was the fastest moving day I can remember in a long time. I was at the acitivities fair from 10-2, but there were so many people working there at the SUPA tables that I spent more time with Nichole and Kate at the Radio K van than I did at the SUPA table. I hitched a ride home afterward with Sara and I went grocery shopping. After eating dinner, I picked up a roll of film that still had pictures from this year's trivia weekend at Walgreen's on my way to Bijou. I stayed for both The Jerk and Dumb and Dumber before catching the bus home. I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to do a web entry for German Cinema by noon on Friday, so I spent more than an hour working on that. I wrote probably 3 times as much as I needed to, but there was so much to talk about that I could have written more. I just lost my AOL connection for the fourth time tonight. Man, for as much money as we pay for AOL each month, you'd think you'd get decent service, but I guess I think wrong. No idea what Saturday will bring.

I'm getting extremely sick and tired of AOL!!! I've already lost my connection 6 times tonight - and I've been home less than 2 hours!!! I can't wait until my paychecks start rolling in, because as soon as it happens, bye bye AOL - I'm getting a dsl line. I'm also going to go to bed soon because I have to get up early for once on a Friday to be at the U to sit at a booth at the activities fair. I'm working on archiving all my old entries, but I'm having trouble with Blogger and Crosswinds and AOL. For anyone who cares, it'll happen one day.

I spent a lot of time online. I checked out The City Pages's Fall Arts Preview (and I'm all pumped about several upcoming film events around the city). I made myself some Spaghettio's. Think maybe it's time I get down to business on my homework finally? Me too.

I guess I'll know here in just a few minutes whether Crosswinds' FTP is working or not. I'm guessing no. It's been down for like 3 days now, so it looks like I haven't updated (but if everyone only knew!).

I'm flying high as a kite tonight. It's good to have a great day every once in a while to remind you why you do what you do, and today was definitely one of those days. I got up this morning and went to my German lit class. We had a discussion going on Nietzsche and I was actually able to contribute for once. I mean, it all just seemed to make sense today. I went and bought the last of my course packets and books possible before EngL class. We watched most of Hitchcock's The Lodger, but there is still the final 20 minutes left for Thursday's class (I want to know what happens so badly!). I caught the connector to St. Paul and took part in my first meeting as a co-chair of Bijou. After dinner back at BK, I went to my CSCL class and although it was rather boring (the discussions are not really discussions, but students clarifying that they understood the teacher's espoused logic). The people in the class are great though, so it makes it easier to sit through. I caught the bus home and now I'm sitting at the computer drinking a Bud Light, listening to The Chemical Brothers, and basking in the aura of my day. No class until 1:30 tomorrow! Woohoo!!!

I got woken up at 9 this morning by the Strib. I really need to take my phone off the hook before I go to bed. Anyway, the fool that I am, I decided to subscribe starting in October. We'll see how it goes. I mean, they do have ads, right? Maybe it's not a very good paper, but it's still better than the Pioneer Press. Wait - isn't every paper? I called up Radio K and requested some Belle and Sebastian, which, as expected, got my ass going this morning. I actually ate some cereal for breakfast. Yes loyal readers - write this date down - I don't think I've eaten some cereal for breakfast (or really eaten breakfast for that matter) since I was about a freshman in high school. Now, I know some purists would say that I ate breakfast last spring, but I don't know if it counts if it's the meal you eat right before you go to bed as opposed to the meal you eat when you first wake up. Anyway... coffee is done and I have some reading to do. As if you'll be able to read this anyway... damn Crosswinds.

Wouldn't it be great if this worked? Hahaha... Crosswinds. You won't actually be reading this until long after I actually posted it because I can't get Crosswinds' FTP to work. Damn fools.

It would appear that Crosswinds is working again so I can do more updating. Did a little reading, but I was taken in by the Vikings game and the Sampras-Safin match. I need to do more reading yet tonight. I was going to go to the film society and see two more films, but I already missed the one I could only see tonight, so I'll wait to go to the other some other night. Now I'm debating what to have for dinner. I had mac and cheese for lunch and I'm thinking soup, but I don't know. I need to get more rolls. I could make sandwiches with bread too. Geez... I don't know.

"I know the streets like that guy who invented the light bulb knew light bulbs."

That's what I was told by this drunken gentleman I met at the bus stop tonight. He was trying to convince me that I needed to write a thesis on life on the streets in America. While on the bus, he told me that I need to watch people, and then he proceeded to stare at this woman in fron of him. She turned to me and asked if I was recording all of this, and the drunk told her we that we were and "Mike Wallace is my man!" I love riding the bus at night.

This was all while riding ths bus home from the U. I had headed over to Bijou to see The Breakfast Club and it started to rain pretty heavily while I was waiting for the bus back. Luckily I was waiting in a shelter and hardly got wet. It has to be about 15 degrees warmer in my apartment than it is outside or in other parts of the building. The problem is that I don't want to open up my windows too wide because the wind will blow the rain in if it starts raining again. Grrrr....

And now, Crosswinds isn't opening again. Atleast my page is accessable, I just can't update it. I really need to get off my ass, spend some money, and pay for a host. It just doesn't seem worth it, seeing as I do this all as a hobby of sorts and there is nothing really worth checking out on my page. I don't know - whatever.

Making myself some Spaghettio's while I work on unpacking. I'm really starting to love this long weekend thing. Liverpool won 3-2 today against Manchester City, but Bayern blew an early lead and lost their first of the season to Stuttgart 2-1. Food's done!

Man, what AM I doing up this late?! If it wasn't for the fact that I'm finally starting to get tired, I'd just sit up and listen to the Liverpool game. Problem is, it doesn't even start for 3 hours yet. I know I used to do it last year, but last year I wouldn't get only 4 hours of sleep on a Thursday due to a combination of illness and phone calls. I need to start leaving my phone off the hook when I go to bed!

Of course, just when things seem to be going either really right or really wrong, Crosswinds decides it's going to go really wrong. I can't get my blog to appear on the page for some reason. It's probably the same reason it took me 20 minutes of playing around with stuff before I finally got the links page to work. Fucking Crosswinds anyway!!!!!

MAJOR UPDATE

What a day! I was up until 4:30 Thursday night/Friday morning doing whatever. Petey called me at 9:30 and I couldn't get back to sleep afterward, so I got up and decided to work on the website. Well, that went steady until 5, when I finally got dressed and headed over to the Weisman for the Funk at the Fred. I ate with the other Whole volunteers and then Petey and I headed over to Bijou to see The Outsiders. I talked to Annemarie and decided to co-chair Bijou with her this year. After we got the 9:30 movie started, Petey, Annemarie, and I headed back across the bridge to the Weisman. The bands had just finished up the Whole volunteers were packing up sound equipment. We had to wait until the Radio K dj's had finished before we could finish packing up the equipment and load the sound stuff on the truck. Molly gave me a ride back home and I've been working on the page ever since. With finally finishing the links page about 10 minutes ago, it's finally ready to be officially launched. What a lot of work that was... whew! On the way home from the Weisman, I noticed that the Foxfire looked all closed up and I mentioned it to Molly. She said that they announced about 5pm on Thursday that that night's show would be their last before they closed. Elizabeth had been kicking around the idea of closing for a long time, and we all knew it, but I guess we were all just in denial. It's a huge loss to lose the only true all ages venue in Minneapolis, but I guess it's just more evidence that you have to sell liquor these days to make a go of it. Time Bomb Tom and his Concert Cafe have been barely making it for the last number of years also. We'll miss you Foxfire - R.I.P. 1998-2000... another one bites the dust.

I wanted to do some work on updating and redesigning the page tonight, but I can't get Crosswinds to open. If it was just possible to find another server that offers unlimited space and no ads for free, I'd be out of there in a flash! I guess I'll have to find something else to do. Just got home a little bit ago. I hung around campus from 9:15 this morning until 11:30 tonight. Between the first two classes I helped with the SUPA panels on the bridge and between the second and third I went to the film society and helped out a little. After class tonight, Thad and I went to see American Pimp at the film society. That got out, and we stopped at Erbert's & Gerbert's so he could eat before he gave me a ride home. It wasn't such a bad day, except we didn't get to see our film tonight in class because the teacher didn't know how to operate the equipment. What can you do?

I was overly joyous a few weeks ago when Liverpool, Bayern München, and Chicago Fire all won on the same day. Well, guess what happened again on Wednesday? They all won again on the same day! And to think some people don't think I cheer on the best teams... haha!!! They all won their games 3-1 at that. Michael Owen had a hat trick for Liverpool, Bayern remained on top of the Bundesliga, now having outscored their opponents through 3 games 10-2 (and that's without Elber, Paulo Sergio, Effenberg, etc.!!!), and Chicago clinched the division title. Woohoo!!!

I'm having several problems keeping online and keeping the browser from freezing up, so I'll have to keep this short and sweet. Finally went to all of my classes for the first time. They don't seem all that bad, really. I'll have plenty of work to do, which will keep from doing all the freetime stuff I would like to, but maybe if I actually did something for once, I might get my money's worth out of college... or atleast part of it. Back to my Fritos and Nietzsche....

I keep getting sicker and sicker. I've tried to work on unpacking as much as possible the last few days, but I feel like crap. I'm congested, have a headache, and the occasional cough. I'm also really tired, even though I got plenty of sleep. I think it smells a little like gas in my apartment, but I can't tell. I tried calling the maintenence guy earlier, but he hasnt't called me back. I hope he didn't take the day off for Labor Day, because I wouldn't know who else to call. I don't want to make a big deal out of it in case it's nothing. Classes start tomorrow, and I'm not even remotely prepared to start. I am ready to do something though, because I'm going out of my mind hanging around this apartment. The apartment is really starting to grow on me though. I didn't know at first if I'd like it or not, but now I'm starting to really like it. Well, time to go drink some more grape juice.

My family stayed the night and we went shopping this morning, but they left a little after 1 I think, and now I'm here alone. I'm a little nervous about things to come, but it's nice to finally have my own place. Still a lot of work to do and classes begin on Tuesday. I need to find an open corner store now also.
