That seems to be the case for the U this year, as the Twins postseason schedule could potentially cause problems with date and time of the homecoming football game against Northwestern. If the Twins were to be knocked out in the division series (which we certainly hope won't happen), the Dome would be open for the game as scheduled on October 12, but because Northwestern didn't want to have to wait to make travel plans, it was decided that in any event the game will be played on the 10th instead. On the one hand it seems like a nice bargaining chip for the U for a new stadium, but on the other hand, that helps the Vikings also, who definitely don't deserve a new stadium. I'm of the opinion though that the Gopher baseball team deserves a new stadium long before the football team. Even so, why can't the Gopher baseball team play at Midway Stadium? It's just as close if not closer to the St. Paul campus as the Metrodome is to the Minneapolis campus and I'm sure the Saints could be a lot more flexable in the scheduling than the Twins are.
